Collision Avoidance
This section will assist the operator in configuring the Object Collision Avoidance settings for the drone through the FlytNow Dashboard.
Drones that have an obstacle-avoiding sensors for the left/right, up/down, and forward/backward directions can be used to best their feature, by adding collision avoidance to them. The system continuously scans the surroundings and detects obstacles in real-time, the system can guide the drone to avoid collisions automatically, even at high speeds.
DJI Mavic 2 Series
DJI M300 Series
The DJI Mavic 2 Series drones have Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing, which includes obstacle sensing systems for the left/right, up/down, and forward/backward directions. FlytNow Certified Remote Operators can fly with confidence and peace of mind when the Collision Avoidance settings are enabled from the FlytNow Dashboard. The system continuously scans the nearby environment and detects obstacles in real-time. The system guides drones to automatically avoid collisions at high speeds.
Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing does not fully cover the circumference of the aircraft (360-degree). And the left and right obstacle sensing systems only work in specific DJI flight modes and environments. The official DJI Mavic 2 user manual can help you learn more about how the obstacle avoidance system works for the DJI Mavic 2 series.
- Once the drone has been added and is online on the FlytNow dashboard, click on Settings from the right corner of the screen.

FlytNow Dashboard : Settings
- In Settings, select a drone from the drop-down box at the top left corner. Now, click on Collision Avoidance to view and configure the required settings.

Collision Avoidance Settings
The DJI Mavic 2 Series is compatible with two types of Collision Avoidance Systems, which are as follows:
- 1.Front Collision Avoidance Vision System: Using the forward vision system the drone detects any objects and avoids collisions.
- 2.Back Collision Avoidance Vision System: Using the backward vision system the drone detects any objects and avoids any collisions.
Due to limitations of the DJI SDK, support for the left/right, up/down Collision Avoidance Vision Systems are currently unavailable in FlytNow but will be available in future releases.

Collision Avoidance Configuration Settings
It is recommended to keep the Display Radar Map toggle enabled to see the collision avoidance indicators in the cockpit view in real-time.
When obstacles are detected by the Collision Avoidance Vision Systems, the following colors (Red, Yellow, and Green) are displayed along with the corresponding Collision Avoidance Vision Sensors (Front, Back) of the drone.
- Red: Obstacles detected are within the pre-set braking distance. The drone will halt.
- Yellow: Obstacles detected within the warning distance. If the drone detects an obstacle in this zone, the FlytNow dashbaord will display a warning message and the drone will keep moving toward its intended flight path.
- Green: Obstacles detected within the radar's range, but outside of the braking/warning distances. If the collision avoidance sensors detect anything outside of the perimeter (Obstacle Warning Distance), there will be no notification, and the drone will keep moving towards the intended flight path.
The Alert levels of the obstacles (warning and braking distances) are determined by DJI's collision avoidance systems.

Collision Avoidance Alert Levels
The M300 is DJI's first industrial platform to feature omnidirectional collision avoidance, with six-direction dual visual sensors and dual Time-of-Flight sensors. As a result, the M300 RTK is DJI's safest drone platform to date.
- Once the drone has been added and is online on the FlytNow dashboard, click on Settings from the right corner of the screen.

- In Settings, select a drone from the drop-down box at the top left corner. Now, click on Collision Avoidance to view and configure the required settings.

Collision Avoidance Settings
The DJI M300 is compatible with three types of Collision Avoidance Systems, which are as follows:
- 1.Horizontal Collision Avoidance Vision System: This system detects and avoids collisions for the Forward, Backward, Left, and Right sensors.

Braking and Warning Parameters : Horizontal
- 2.Upward Collision Avoidance Vision System: This system detects and avoids collisions for the Upward sensors. [For obstacle(s) above the drone]

Braking and Warning Parameters : Upward
- 3.Downward Collision Avoidance Vision System: This system detects and avoids collisions for the Downward sensors. [For obstacle(s) below the drone]
Support for the Downward Collision Avoidance Vision System is currently unavailable in FlytNow but will be available in future releases.
The following distance parameters can be configured for the above-mentioned Collision Avoidance Vision System(s):
- Obstacle Braking Distance: This is the pre-set braking distance at which the drone breaks when an obstacle is detected.
- Obstacle Warning Distance: This is the pre-set warning distance at which the drone warns the user. If an obstacle is detected within the warning distance, the user will see a warning message in the FlytNow dashboard.
It is recommended to keep the Display Radar Map toggle enabled to see the collision avoidance indicators in the cockpit view in real-time.

Collision Avoidance Settings
When obstacles are detected by the Collision Avoidance Vision Systems, the following colors (Red, Yellow, and Green) are displayed along with the corresponding Collision Avoidance Vision Sensors (Horizontal, Vertical) of the drone.
- Red: Obstacles detected within the pre-set braking distance. The drone will halt.
- Yellow: Obstacles detected within the warning distance.
- Green: Obstacles detected within the radar's range, but outside of the braking/warning distances.

Collision Avoidance Alert Levels
To learn more about how the DJI M300's obstacle avoidance system works, you may refer to the official DJI M300 User Manual.
Once the operator configures the Obstacle Braking Distance and the Obstacle Warning Distance, the following behaviour is expected:
- If the drone detects an obstacle within the set Obstacle Warning Distance, the FlytNow dashboard will display a warning message and the drone will keep moving toward its intended flight path.
- While moving towards its intended flight path, if the drone reaches the set Obstacle Braking Distance, the drone will halt.
- If the collision avoidance sensors detect anything outside the pre-set perimeter, there will be no notification, and the drone will keep moving towards the intended flight path.
